In the South African province of Limpopo is the Mapungubwe National Park with the Mapungubwe Hill, which at first glance seems inconspicuous, but on closer inspection turns out to be a hilltop that was inhabited around 1000 years ago.
A highly developed civilization lived in the city at that time, whose heyday was between the years 1200 and 1270. Archaeologists found the “Golden Rhinoceros” and other evidence of a wealthy kingdom here.
