Kathmandu is the capital of Nepal, located in the Kathmandu Valley at the foot of the Himalayas. The city is renowned for its historic temples, palaces, and stupas, including Durbar Square, Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple), and Boudhanath Stupa. Kathmandu serves as Nepal’s cultural, religious, and economic hub and as a gateway for trekking expeditions into the Himalayas.
