Viðoy is the northernmost island of the Faroe Islands, located in the Norðoyar region. Its name means “Wood Island,” although it is largely treeless. Viðoy is renowned for its dramatic landscape with towering cliffs, including Enniberg, one of the highest sea cliffs in Europe (over 750 m). The main settlements are Hvannasund and Viðareiði, the latter being the northernmost village of the Faroes. Viðoy is connected to the neighboring island of Borðoy by a causeway and is a popular destination for hiking along its rugged coastline.
