Tórshavn is the capital of the Faroe Islands, located on the island of Streymoy. With around 20,000 inhabitants, it is the political, economic, and cultural hub of the archipelago. The city is renowned for the historic government district Tinganes, with its characteristic wooden houses and grass roofs, considered one of the oldest parliamentary meeting places in the world. Tórshavn offers museums, theaters, and a vibrant harbor area, and serves as the gateway to exploring the rest of the Faroe Islands.
