Art refers to human creative activities and their outcomes in which aesthetic, expressive, or intellectual qualities are central. It relies on knowledge, skill, perception, imagination, and intuition. Artworks are more than merely functional objects — their primary purpose is not utility but reception, interpretation, and effect. In the narrower sense, art includes disciplines such as visual arts (painting, sculpture, graphic arts), performing arts (theatre, dance, performance), literature, music, and aesthetic practice. The concept of art is historically and culturally mutable; boundaries between art, design, craftsmanship, and everyday aesthetics are often porous.
