Cantabria is an autonomous community in northern Spain, bordered by the Basque Country, Castile and León, Asturias, and the Cantabrian Sea. Its capital is Santander, an important port city. The region is famous for its green coastline, the high mountains of the Picos de Europa National Park, and prehistoric caves such as the Altamira Cave (a UNESCO World Heritage Site). Cantabria combines maritime charm, mountain landscapes, and a rich cultural heritage.
