Białowieża is a village in eastern Poland near the border with Belarus, best known for the Białowieża Forest, one of the last and largest remaining primeval forests in Europe. The area is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and Biosphere Reserve, home to exceptional biodiversity, including the largest free-ranging population of European bison (wisents). Białowieża serves as a hub for eco-tourism and nature research.
