Vestland is a county in western Norway, established in 2020 through the merger of the former counties of Hordaland and Sogn og Fjordane. Its administrative centers are Bergen, Norway’s second-largest city, and Leikanger. Vestland is renowned for its dramatic fjords, including the Sognefjord, the longest and deepest fjord in Europe, and the Hardangerfjord. The region is a hub for tourism, shipping, fishing, and renewable energy. Culturally, Vestland is shaped by medieval stave churches, Hanseatic history, and Bergen’s vibrant cultural scene.
