The Curonian Spit is a narrow sand dune peninsula about 98 kilometers long, separating the Curonian Lagoon from the Baltic Sea. It stretches from Lithuania to the Russian exclave of Kaliningrad. The landscape is shaped by vast shifting dunes, pine forests, and long sandy beaches. The Curonian Spit is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, renowned for its unique nature, migratory bird habitats, and blend of Baltic culture and history. Popular destinations include Nida, Juodkrantė, and Rybachy.

Lithuania, the Curonian Spit

I particularly liked the Curonian Spit on our Baltic trip. On the Baltic Sea side, these endless beaches, without any buildings.

Sunset on the Curonian Spit

The wide deserted beaches on the Baltic Sea side of the Curonian Spit turn copper-red in April at sunset.
