Riga is the capital of Latvia and the largest city in the Baltic States. Located at the mouth of the Daugava River on the Baltic Sea, the city is famous for its well-preserved Old Town (Vecrīga) with Gothic churches, Hanseatic merchant houses, and the Town Hall Square, as well as its many Art Nouveau buildings, which are part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Riga is a cultural hub with theaters, museums, music festivals, and a lively café and market culture, particularly in the historic Central Market halls.
