Liguria is a coastal region in northwestern Italy, stretching along the Ligurian coast of the Mediterranean Sea. Its capital is Genoa, an important port and trading city. Liguria is famous for the picturesque seaside villages of the Cinque Terre, the Riviera di Ponente and Levante, and for its Mediterranean cuisine, particularly Pesto alla Genovese. The region combines dramatic coastlines, beaches, and mountains, making it a popular destination for both cultural and nature tourism.
