Occitanie is an administrative region in southern France, created in 2016 through the merger of the former regions Languedoc-Roussillon and Midi-Pyrénées. Its capital is Toulouse, an important university and industrial city, particularly in the aerospace sector. The region features diverse landscapes – from the Pyrenees to the Mediterranean coast, along with vineyards and historic towns such as Carcassonne (a UNESCO World Heritage Site). The cultural identity of Occitanie is shaped by the heritage of the Occitan language and traditions.
