Nouvelle-Aquitaine is the largest region in France by area, located in the southwest of the country. It was created in 2016 through the merger of the former regions Aquitaine, Limousin, and Poitou-Charentes. Its capital is Bordeaux, world-famous for its wine production. The region features diverse landscapes, ranging from the Atlantic coast with beaches and surf spots to the Pyrenees mountains, as well as historic cities such as Limoges and La Rochelle. Nouvelle-Aquitaine is renowned for its rich culture, gastronomy (including foie gras, cheese, and wines), and UNESCO World Heritage sites along the pilgrimage routes of Santiago de Compostela.
