Chamonix-Mont-Blanc, commonly known as Chamonix, is a town in the French Alps near the borders with Switzerland and Italy. It is situated at the foot of Mont Blanc, the highest mountain in Western Europe. Chamonix is regarded as the cradle of alpinism and is a world-renowned hub for mountaineering, skiing, and mountain photography. Famous attractions include the cable car to the Aiguille du Midi and the Mer de Glace glacier area.
