Rovaniemi is the capital of the Finnish region of Lapland, located on the Arctic Circle. The city is known as the “official hometown of Santa Claus” and is home to the Santa Claus Village, a popular destination for visitors from around the world. After being almost completely destroyed during World War II, Rovaniemi was rebuilt according to designs by architect Alvar Aalto in the shape of a reindeer’s head. Surrounded by rivers and forests, it is an ideal place to experience the Northern Lights in winter and the Midnight Sun in summer.
