Lapland is a region in the far north of Europe, spanning Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Russia (the Kola Peninsula). It is the traditional homeland of the Sámi, the indigenous people of the North. The landscape is characterized by vast tundras, fells, boreal forests, and numerous lakes and rivers. Lapland is famous for natural phenomena such as the Midnight Sun in summer and the Northern Lights in winter. It is seen as a symbol of wilderness, reindeer herding, and Arctic culture.
