Sillamäe is a town in northeastern Estonia, located on the coast of the Gulf of Finland. During the Soviet era, it was a closed city due to its uranium processing plant, which served the Soviet nuclear industry. Today, Sillamäe functions as an industrial and port town but is increasingly opening up to tourism. The town is notable for its Stalinist architecture, featuring wide boulevards and symmetrical buildings, giving it a distinctive historic character. Sillamäe also serves as a gateway to the scenic northeastern Estonian coastline.
