Leverkusen is a city in North Rhine-Westphalia, located on the Rhine between Cologne and Düsseldorf. Founded in 1930 through the merger of several communities, it is best known as an industrial center, particularly for being the headquarters of the chemical and pharmaceutical company Bayer AG. Culturally and athletically, the city is shaped by the football club Bayer 04 Leverkusen. In addition to its industrial heritage, Leverkusen offers recreational sites such as the Japanese Garden and Morsbroich Castle.
