The Great Belt (Storebælt) is a strait in Denmark connecting the Baltic Sea with the Kattegat. It separates the Danish islands of Zealand and Funen. Its most notable feature is the Great Belt Bridge (Storebæltsbroen), one of the world’s longest suspension bridges, which has linked the islands since 1998. The Great Belt is both an important shipping route and a symbol of Denmark’s modern transport infrastructure.
