Mechelen is a city in the Flemish region of Belgium, located between Brussels and Antwerp. In the Middle Ages, it was an important religious and political center of the Habsburg Netherlands. The city’s landmark is the monumental St. Rumbold’s Cathedral with its distinctive tower, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Mechelen is also renowned for its carillon school, its well-preserved old town, and its vibrant cultural and culinary scene.
