The Kleinwalsertal is an alpine high valley in Vorarlberg, Austria, accessible by road only from Germany via Bavaria. It lies within the Allgäu Alps and includes the villages of Riezlern, Hirschegg, Mittelberg, and Baad. The valley is renowned for its stunning mountain scenery, traditional Walser culture, and a wide range of outdoor activities such as hiking, skiing, and mountain biking. Due to its isolated location, the Kleinwalsertal maintains a unique cultural and economic connection with Germany.

Long exposure in the Breitach gorge

After the glacier melted at the end of the Würm Ice Age, the Breitach cut about 150 meters deep into the rock over the past 10,000 years.
