Panmunjeom is a village on the inter-Korean border within the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), about 50 kilometers north of Seoul. It is known as the site of the 1953 Armistice Agreement that ended the Korean War. Today, Panmunjeom serves as a venue for diplomatic talks between North and South Korea. The blue conference buildings, straddling the demarcation line, have become a symbol of Korea’s division.
