Yudanaka is a traditional hot spring town in Nagano Prefecture, Japan. It is part of the historic Yamanouchi onsen area, which has been known for its thermal baths for centuries. Yudanaka is the gateway to the famous Jigokudani Monkey Park, where wild Japanese macaques (the so-called “snow monkeys”) bathe in the hot springs during winter – a unique natural spectacle worldwide. The town itself features numerous ryokan (traditional inns) with their own baths and offers a relaxing atmosphere in the Japanese Alps region.
