Hiroshima is located in western Honshū, Japan’s main island, and is the capital of Hiroshima Prefecture. The city became world-famous due to the atomic bombing on August 6, 1945. Today, Hiroshima stands as a symbol of peace and remembrance, with the Peace Memorial Park and the Atomic Bomb Dome (UNESCO World Heritage Site) as central landmarks. At the same time, it is a modern urban center with cultural institutions and culinary specialties such as okonomiyaki.
