Yunnan is a province in southwestern China, with Kunming as its capital. It borders Myanmar, Laos, and Vietnam, and is known for its ethnic diversity – numerous minority groups such as the Bai, Yi, Dai, Hani, and Naxi live here. The province boasts extraordinary natural variety: from the subtropical rainforests of Xishuangbanna to the karst formations of the Shilin (Stone Forest) and snow-capped peaks like the Meili Xue Shan in the Himalayas. Yunnan is regarded as one of China’s richest regions in terms of culture and nature, and it is a key destination for trekking, tea culture (Pu’er tea), and eco-tourism.
