Beijing (Peking) is the capital of China and one of the world’s largest metropolises. It is the political, cultural, and economic center of the country. Major landmarks include the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, the Temple of Heaven, and the Summer Palace. Beijing served as the capital of several dynasties and is also known for its modern architecture as well as hosting the Olympic Games in 2008 and 2022.
