Paro is a town in western Bhutan, situated in a fertile valley along the Paro Chhu River. It is known for its traditional architecture, monasteries, and dzongs. The most famous site is Taktshang Monastery (“Tiger’s Nest”), perched dramatically on a cliffside. Paro is also home to Bhutan’s only international airport, making it the main gateway to the country.
