Campeche is a state on the Yucatán Peninsula in Mexico. Bordered by the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico, it is renowned for its well-preserved colonial architecture, designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In addition to its capital, San Francisco de Campeche, the region features numerous Maya sites such as Edzná and Calakmul.
