The Altiplano is an extensive high plateau in the Andes, spanning Bolivia, Peru, Chile, and Argentina. At elevations above 3,500 meters, it is one of the world’s highest inhabited regions. The Altiplano is characterized by vast plains, volcanoes, salt flats such as the Salar de Uyuni, and a rich indigenous culture.
