We were able to photograph whooper swans mainly on Iceland and Hokkaido in Japan. They differ from the well-known mute swans mainly in their beak section. Their calls are reminiscent of trombones and can be quite melodic. On Lake Kussharo in Hokkaido, Japan, we were able to see many whooper swans in a large group. And the flying whooper swans in front of the glaciers of Iceland in the background are unforgettable.
