Finland is known for its many lakes - and the extraordinary nature of this landscape becomes particularly apparent when you drive a longer distance north through this wild lake landscape. On the way to the Norwegian border, we passed a wide variety of bodies of water almost constantly: torrents and small streams that slowly fought their way through the wintry ice. And of course small lakes, large lakes, ice-covered lakes, waterfalls and and and.

This diverse landscape leaves wonderful lasting memories.


Hundreds of statues and a town hall

A tour of Leuven offers many surprises - small as well as big. Of course, the town hall on the Great Market is impressive and is one of the most beautiful late Gothic buildings in Europe. It is decorated with hundreds of figures depicting biblical scenes as well as scholars and important figures in Louvain's history. It was built from 1439 to 1468 and stands directly opposite the St. Peter's Church.


Atomic bomb over Hiroshima

Visiting Hiroshima during one of our longer trips to Japan moved us deeply. It is not possible to walk past the "Atomic Bomb Dome" of the former Chamber of Commerce and Industry building without shuddering inwardly. The shock wave of the nuclear explosion hit this dome almost vertically at a height of 600 meters, so that parts of its construction resisted.
