Thingvellir

The place Þingvellir or Thingvellir has a special meaning for two reasons: One is geological. because one is here in a rift zone at the boundary between two tectonic plates. On the other hand, one of the oldest parliaments in the world met here. Since about the year 930, the traditional Althing assemblies have been held annually in Thingvellir, which have both legislative and judicial functions.

The place impresses with the high basalt rocks and its waterfalls. It is not far from the capital Reykjavík.

Friedrichstadt - Little Holland in North Frisia

Friedrichstadt was founded in 1621 at the confluence of the Treene and the Eider in North Frisia. In order to get the water of the city under control and to realize a quick settlement, knowledgeable Dutchmen were recruited to build dykes. Since the Christian religious community of the Remonstrants was persecuted in Holland at that time, many Remonstrants settled in Friedrichstadt, as Duke Friedrich III guaranteed the residents freedom of religion here.

Lighthouses and endless expanses

The Westerheven lighthouse can only be reached on foot or by bike. It is about 1 km from the outer dike towards the lake and has become a popular photo motif thanks to its two symmetrical houses.

This post mainly shows it from the outer dike. It made sense to use different focal lengths (Nikkor 24-70 mm / f / 2.8 and Nikkor 70-200mm f / 2.8) and to create a small series of comparisons for the image size depending on the focal length

Holographic art in Pulheim Town Hall

At the end of the 1990s, the Holography Museum was closed by Matthias Lauk and its approximately 350 exhibits were looking for new owners. In order to be able to assess holographic art, the view must not be obscured by 3D animations, stereoscopic images or simulated pseudo-3D effects with red-green orthogonal glasses. Otherwise the careless assessment of the ignorant takes place too quickly, one is on the level of souvenir articles.

The Kuna - indigenous people in Panama

About 30,000 Kuna, which call themselves Dule (translated: human), live in San Blas, an approximately 200 km long coastal strip along the northeastern Atlantic coast of Panama with its offshore islands up to the Colombian border. You can reach the islands by boat and you will find well-kept huts as accommodations with these friendly people. The Kuna are known for their traditional dances, which we wanted to include in this project. In addition, with years of resistance to Panama's integration efforts, the Kuna have managed to anchor their rights to independence in the Panama Constitution, which has contributed to the high authenticity of today's Kuna. The Panama Constitution guarantees Kuna rights and territorial rights - but they have had to fight hard for their autonomy today.

Long exposure: Breitach gorge

After the glacial melt at the end of the Würm ice age, the Breitach cut itself some 150 meters deep into the rock over the past 10,000 years, creating the deepest rock canyon in Central Europe: the Breitach gorge. It runs 2.5 km between the exit of the Kleinwalser valley at Tiefenbach, a district of the municipality of Oberstdorf in Germany, and the Walserschanz in Austria.

Color-Key pictures of plants

If the photo already tells a good story, the color scheme can add another facet to the suspense. We then no longer speak of photographs, the purpose of which is to reproduce motifs as lifelike as possible, e.g. is for documentation, but of images based on photographic material as the result of an artistic act. From this point of view, color key recordings should ultimately be assessed.
