Schwerin Castle was the residence of the Mecklenburg dukes and is now the seat of the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania state parliament.

It is located on the castle island in the city of Schwerin and is considered an important example of Romantic Historicism. It is often referred to as the “Neuschwanstein of the North”.

The Gottorf Castle Sculpture Park was set up on the castle island in the catle lake at the western end of the river Schlei in Schleswig. The exhibits can be viewed and admired on a tour around the castle in the park. The oldest work dates from 1889, the youngest from 1995. In addition to figurative sculptures, abstract works can also be seen.

Gottorf Castle itself is the largest castle complex in Schleswig-Holstein. It is used as a state museum.
